HOW EXOGENOUS BHB SALTS ARE MADE
- Apr 06, 2021 -

Exogenous BHB salts are made in a lab from the fermentation of bacteria.

Ketone-Salts

Here’s how it happens:

1. Formation of PHB: PHB (or poly-beta-hydroxybutyrate) is where BHB comes from. PHB is a biodegradable polymer — a large biological molecule made of tiny molecules bonded together. It’s created by fermenting the bacteria acetobacter and Rhizobium in vitro.

2. From PHB to BHB: PHB then goes through hydrolysis. This means adding water to cut the chemical bonds, which creates BHB.

3. Adding mineral salts: For easier absorption, free BHB is mixed with a combination of salts, including sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, lithium, or amino acids like lysine, histidine, creatine, or arginine in different ratios. The specific salts and their quantities depend on the manufacturer.

Perfect Keto Exogenous Ketones are based on calcium, sodium, and magnesium.
